“You only travel as far as the heart you touch”. This is how one travels when Joyce is hosting. She began her career in the travel industry in 1975 and earned her Business Program degree at the Travel Institute in 1980. Joyce opened Preferred Travel in 1981. In 1995, Joyce was a pioneer as a home-based agency by selling portions of the business and concentrating on what she loves most about this industry – changing the way people see the world (and themselves) and inspiring them to make a difference. She has been an active member of SKAL; served as President of CT SKAL 2011-12 and now belongs to the Myrtle Beach Chapter. Her travel experience, knowledge, contacts as well as membership to Travel Planners International and Ensemble Travel Group avails her clients to specialty cruises and vacations around the globe for which she serves as both designer and many times personal guide.
Joyce has both a philanthropic and compassionate spirit. She was a foster mother to over 43 teenagers during the course of 8 years, as well as served on the Board of Child & Family Services in New London, CT. Upon traveling through Nepal to be “on top of the world” for the millennium, she “adopted” a family for whom she stills provides after the earthquake in April 2015. She also sponsor 2 Tibetan sisters to relocate to the US.
Joyce is a supporter of “Amman Imman: Water is Life” (www.ammanimman.org) and currently serves as President on the Board of Directors. Joyce and her husband, Jeff, recently moved to Edgewater, FL. Joyce is a member of the New Smyrna Beach chapter JE of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Opportunities). Although they keep a busy schedule, there's always time to travel. Her favorite quote is “Be not so busy making a living you forget to make a life”.
